Did you know that the Westchester PTA has a Special Education Liaison?

A Special Education Liaison (SEL) is a parent volunteer who has a child with an IEP.

The Liaison works closely with the PTA and school staff to be a resource in the school community regarding the needs of children with disabilities. This valuable position models the importance of advocacy and the positive impact it has to the school and community.

The SEL must be a PTA member in good standing.

What does a PTA SEL do?

  • Promotes parent participation in IEP team meetings. This may be done through newsletter articles, information sheets, special meetings, or personal contact.

  • Distributes information to your school community through your local PTA newsletter.

  • Refers parents to the Resource Center for support and information.

Who is our PTA SEL?
